Registering a family office company with ACRA takes place on Bizfile, in a sequence of 10 steps that run from log-in to the notice of incorporation. This page walks through that sequence as of October 2026, using ACRA guidance. It is one step to set up a family office, and it belongs to the family office Singapore hub. This page is general information, not legal, tax or investment advice.

What should you prepare before registering a family office company?
Prepare an approved company name, a financial year end, a valid company email and a Singapore registered office address that is open to the public during business hours. ACRA sets the opening hours at 3 hours each business day at least, with a fine of up to $5,000 for non-compliance (ACRA, 2026). Confirm the office hours with your landlord or provider before you file.
For each director, secretary and shareholder, collect the NRIC or FIN, the full name, the date of birth, the residential address, a contact address in the same country where the person can receive messages, a mobile number and an email. A single sheet with these details for every position holder saves time on the day you file.
Who files the ACRA registration for a family office company?
Name reservation comes first. You reserve a business name before registering and register the same entity type you chose for the reservation. Only the person who reserved the name can register, and that person must also be appointed a director or secretary of the new company (ACRA, 2026). This rule makes the choice of filer a family decision, taken before the form opens.
Individuals such as proposed directors and secretaries log in with Singpass, while corporate service providers use Corppass. A family can file itself or ask a corporate service provider to file. The provider route also removes the endorsement step for the other position holders.
Which Bizfile steps complete the registration of the company?
The sequence has 10 steps: log in and open the register new entity service, enter the company details, add the directors, secretary and shareholders, state the nominator information, state the controller details, enter the share capital, allot the shares, upload or select the constitution, review, endorse and pay, and check the outcome. Count each step as a checkpoint, and tick it on your own list.
Each screen builds on the previous one, so keep the name reservation, the position-holder sheet and the draft constitution open in separate windows. The first screen retrieves information from your name reservation, which saves one round of typing and keeps the entity type consistent.
How does the family declare shares, nominees and controllers?
The share capital screen asks for the currency, the payment mode, the share class and the number of shares. The allotment screen assigns shares to each shareholder, individually or in a group, with a minimum of one issued share (ACRA, 2026). The family decides these figures with its lawyer before it opens the form. Write them on the same sheet as the position holders.
2 declarations follow. The nominator screen states whether the company is exempt from the registers of nominee directors and nominee shareholders, and the controller screen states whether it is exempt from the register of registrable controllers. If the company is not exempt, the filer adds the nominator or controller details. The family office company therefore reads each exemption statement with its lawyer, line by line.
What do the fee and the timing of ACRA registration look like?
ACRA lists a fee of $300, paid by credit card, debit card or online banking. Most registrations are approved soon after payment, while complex applications may take up to 15 working days, and applications that need a referral authority take 14 to 60 days (ACRA, 2026). A special UEN carries its own choice at payment, so decide it before you reach that screen.
Other position holders endorse the registration within 60 days unless a corporate service provider filed it. After payment you check the Bizfile inbox for the notice of successful incorporation, the UEN of the company and a link to a free Business Profile. You may also choose a special UEN during payment.
What must a family office company do after ACRA registration?
From the incorporation date the company sets up and maintains its registers. It appoints an auditor within 3 months of registration unless exempt from audit, and the company secretary within 6 months of registration. It also holds annual general meetings and files annual returns (ACRA, 2026). Each deadline is a task with an owner, and the company secretary often keeps the list.
The MAS steps run in parallel. A new single family office files a Notice of Commencement of Business with MAS within 14 days of starting operations, and keeps an account with a MAS-licensed bank (MAS FAQ, 2026). Put the ACRA and MAS dates on one calendar from the first day.
How can a family check its ACRA file before it files?
Run a 6-line check: the name is approved, the filer is a director or secretary, every position holder has a complete sheet, the share figures match the draft of your lawyer, the constitution is chosen and the budget includes the $300 fee. A file that passes the 6 lines goes through in one sitting.
EQOS Asia scores a family decision and ranks the options (EQOS Asia private page, 2026). A pre-diagnostic applies that method to the timing and structure questions behind your registration, and a corporate service provider or lawyer files the form. The checklist also becomes the first page of the corporate file.
